So you’ve decided to get a glass shower enclosure for your bathroom. That’s an awesome decision that is sure to elevate your bathroom to the next level. You don’t want it to just be any old glass enclosure though. You want it to be the perfect fit for your bathroom and personal style. So what are some ways you can customize your shower glass?
Framed vs Frameless
To start out, it’s a good idea to decide whether you want your glass shower enclosure to be framed or frameless. The difference in appearance is simple enough. Framed glass shower enclosures have frames surrounding the glass. This offers a more traditional appearance and allows you to choose between a swinging door and a sliding door. Frameless shower enclosures, on the other hand, lack a frame and have minimal hardware. This gives the illusion of a lighter, more open, and more airy room, which is especially great if your bathroom is a bit on the small side.
Many glass shower enclosures are made using clear glass, but have you ever thought about the different colors you could choose? Clear glass offers the ultimate open experience and allows the most light from the bathroom to enter the shower. If you want a more contemporary look for your bathroom, though, you might consider using tinted glass instead. There are a ton of colors to choose from. Darker tints will offer more privacy, but will also block out more light. Consider the theme, lighting, and overall impact on the look of your bathroom if you decide to choose tinted glass.
Color isn’t the only way to add interest or privacy to your shower. Texture can achieve both of those aims as well. Like tinted glass, there are a ton of different textures to choose from. That means that you’re sure to find a texture that suits the look you’re going for in your bathroom. Textured glass obscures the view of the shower’s interior somewhat, meaning you’ll have a bit more privacy, but texture alone won’t prevent light from getting in, unlike dark tints. Keep in mind that texturing your glass does tend to detract from that open look that plain, clear, frameless glass offers.
Customizing your glass shower enclosure is a great way to make your bathroom that much closer to being exactly right for you. Whether you opt for framed or frameless, add color, or choose a texture to add to your glass, there are plenty of things you can do to make your new glass shower enclosure your own. Just make sure you begin with the end in mind so that your final result will fit in beautifully with any other renovations you make to your bathroom.
