Bathrooms are one of the more important areas of the house. We spend a lot of time in the bathroom cleaning ourselves, getting ready, making sure we’re put together, and handling some, well, personal care tasks. It’s only natural to want to feel comfortable and at ease in your bathroom, and creating a light, airy aesthetic can be just the thing you need.
One of the first things you need to consider when changing your bathroom’s aesthetic is the color palette. Colors can totally make or break any room, but especially bathrooms. For an airy aesthetic, light colors on the walls are a must. Whites, creams, light beiges, and even light shades of gray can be perfect. That said, you don’t necessarily have to stick with neutral colors. Pastels can be great options for a light, airy atmosphere too.
To be honest, there isn’t generally much in the way of fabric that gets put in the bathroom. Towels are pretty commonplace, though, as are bath rugs. If you have windows in your bathroom, you probably have curtains or blinds of some sort. Choosing your fabrics carefully can go a long way towards creating an airy aesthetic. Opt for plush, soft towels and rugs. Curtains made from flowy, gauzy, materials that gently blow in the breeze create not only the general look of airiness but show it through movement too. Again, opt for light colors here.
Keeping the space in your bathroom as open and clear as possible can really help bring home the light airiness you’re trying to achieve. Glass surfaces can be absolutely perfect for your bathroom in that regard. They are often clear (though you can make different choices), which helps to open the space. They also allow light to pass through, helping to make the space brighter. You’ll need to make sure they’re kept clean though. Dirty glass is sure to ruin the look you’re going for.
Of course, your personal preferences will dictate what sort of aesthetic makes you feel the most comfortable. It’s hard to deny how relaxing a light, airy room can be tough. Find inspiration for your favorite aesthetic by looking at pictures of bathrooms that have been done in different styles. Try to find elements that will help you define what you want your bathroom to look like.
